Background

Smith first joined WPA in 2003, working in his home state of Oklahoma.  After spending several years as the head of a $16 million pre-construction development of a $1.4 billion energy project in New England, Smith rejoined WPA in 2009.  At WPA, Smith has focused primarily on corporate, government, non-profit, and West Coast market research clients. In 2010, Smith opened the Los Angeles branch of WPA.

Smith has often worked to improve his local communities by performing work for local organizations and small companies, frequently offering services as a donation, and in 2003 co-founded a successful non-profit organization of 20-somethings known as the Alliance of Emerging Professionals.

Pertinent Experience and Relationships

  • Led rebranding research efforts for the State of Oklahoma, as well as a variety of corporations, non-profits, associations, and institutions of higher education.
  • Conducted citizen and customer satisfaction studies for a variety of local governments, public organizations, corporations, and police departments.
  • Led donor enhancement studies to improve donor acquisition and retention for dozens of non-profits in several countries around the world.
  • Headed polling efforts for local and state-level political clients throughout California in the 2009/2010 cycle.
  • Specializes in energy industry clients, including stakeholder communications and advocacy projects for oil and gas development and the electric industry throughout the country.
  • Led research efforts for numerous reimbursement rate disputes in the healthcare industry.
  • Moderated focus groups and conducted high-level in-depth interviews for corporate and non-profit clients throughout the country.

Credentials

  • Smith graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University, while concentrating on rational and irrational decision making, social psychology, and game theory.
  • Smith has been trained as an in-depth interviewer and focus group moderator.
  • Smith has been a speaker at a variety of international industry conferences and workshops.
